There's so much beauty when your eyes lay lost in all the city lights. taxis, cars raining wet, dull foggy mist lights, no matter what...cities have that quality that inspires me to capture those moments of incredible beauty and mystery in the midst of incessant traffic.

Growing up in a city full of marks left by World War 2, Alan has been influenced by those images.   The early work of this artist is deeply influenced by the postwar images where his father participated left indelible marks in his memory and in his painting. Empty, dark streets, with semi-dilapidated buildings and stray cats roaming the streets, were the first characteristics of his paintings.

Whether an overflowing dustbin, a cat hiding in the corner, or a forgotten can of Coke, Alan's art reflects life and memories in a way that conjures images of the household and a strong sense of family.  Though they may appear empty on the surface, Alan's work inspires the viewer with feelings of both happiness and warm nostalgia.

Alan possesses a remarkable sense of architectural space, allowing him to create a unique style that distinguishes him from his contemporaries. His talent for abstracting the key elements of each city results in images that resonate deeply with the public, drawing upon their own experiences. In his later works, he captures the atmosphere of modern cities, portraying scenes filled with traffic lights, cars, people, and rain. Whether depicting London, Paris, or New York, Alan not only conveys the sense of space and environment but also evokes emotions and feelings within the urban landscape. This connection to his art is profound; it transcends mere description to reveal a beauty that he extracts from large cities and translates onto canvas. Each painting tells a story, reflecting an artist who relies on his memory to communicate essential themes. Alan embodies memory in a way that highlights its significance, beauty, and even fragility, making his art truly unique.

Dance, particularly flamenco, serves as a significant source of inspiration in my work. Its emotional intensity and connection to the deepest experiences of life, such as love, loss, suffering, and passion, resonate with me, and I strive to convey these profound emotions in my creations.
